Sports Illustrated Esports Philippines featured Andreij Albar "PBE Doujin"

Monday 13 November 2017

Andreij "Doujin" Albar, of the Philippines is crowned as the "Tekken 7" 9th IeSF World Champion 2017 in Busan, South Korea.

The road of our Tekken 7, World Champion Andreij "Doujin" Albar to the IeSF 9th eSports World Championship in Busan, South Korea, started at ClutchZone in Cebu City, where Doujin emerged as the Champion and qualified him to represent the Philippines in that prestigious tournament.

At the IeSF, three Esports games were featured that is League of Legends, Counterstrike: Global Offensive, and Tekken 7. A competition built around countries battling each other, of which Tekken 7 is the main game this year. This means that in any given country, only one player can partake through qualifiers.

The competition is highly prestigious and world-class in all aspects. The National players are showing off the whole world that they do well and are confident in representing their own country.

There were a total of 310 Participants from 35 Nations. There were 23 players in the Tekken 7 tournament representing 23 countries including our very own Andreij “Doujin” Albar, Philippines. who placed 6th overall in the 2017 Tekken 7 World Tour in the Asia Pacific Region.

One remarkable moment of the event was the parade & presentation of each country of their National Players bearing their National Flags. It was an awesome moment happening to see those young boys, proud and shining with their National flags, that even without speaking a word, in their hearts, they are telling the whole world that all of them are the best of the best and they will perform to the top of their ability for their country.

It was the first time for me to see Andreij as a flag bearer in an International event and my heart was so delighted as it happens. It was totally different from all the other local and International tournaments that I've ever seen that Andreij already participated in the past. In my heart, I knew Andreij has a mission, and that is to inspire the Youth of our nation. God's message is clearer for me to understand that He made it for Doujin to be there and be happy to represent the Philippines in the 9th IeSF World Championship.

The third day of the 9th Esports World Championship was the highlight for Tekken 7 that it took the center stage starting with the quarterfinals, wherein, eight(8) countries out of the twenty-three that joined the tournament remains. After a hard-fought battle, our country’s very own Andreij “PBE Doujin” Albar emerged victorious with the World Championship Crown.

Thank you very much, to Andreij's supporters all over the world especially to all his  Filipino followers & fans, to his South Elite Group Kim and Jules who practice him before flying to Korea, to our family, and to Mr. Richard Brojan and his PlayBook Elite Team. We appreciated all your warm cheers and sincerest wishes for all his success, all these really mean a lot to my family.

Thank you very much, to the Dean, to Vice Dean, and to all the professors of Andreij at San Beda College Alabang, College of Arts and Sciences for the massive support and blessings they provided to him during his international campaign to represent our country. We value the Bedan Mission and Vision..."Ora et Labora"... Your support meant a lot to Andreij and forever it will be in his heart.

Thank you very much, to the awesome Manager of ClutchZone Mr. Kurt Kyle Blanc who was very supportive to the success of Andreij "Doujin" Albar's journey to compete and represent our country in the 9th IeSF World Championship in Busan, South Korea.

Thank you very much, to the IeSF Philippine representative, acting PESO Chairman Mr. Brian Lim, his presence boosted the morale of our Philippine Players and made us the 2nd place on the overall ranking.

Thank you very much, to the IeSF Philippine representative Mr. Jess Tamboboy of (PESO) Philippine e-Sports Organization. We give you the credits for giving us your best effort in providing us the important documents up to the last minute. Though you really had a hard time, still your magnificent effort, did it. God bless all those generous sponsors who believe in you and the capabilities of our Philippine e-Sportsmen.

Thank you very much to the IeSF, to the Officials, Staff, Referees, Volunteers and to all those people who did their best to make this event truly worthwhile and remarkable.

To all participants, thank you for giving all your best because you will always be remembered.

To God be the Glory!

Congratulations to our Champion Philippines, Andreij "Doujin" Albar

True champions aren't always the ones that win, but those with the most guts. Champions do not become champions when they win the event, but in the hours, weeks, months and years they spend preparing for it. The victorious performance itself is merely the demonstration of their championship character.

Champions are made from something they have deep inside them,
a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have the skill and the will.
But the will must be stronger than the skill.

Laughing Doujin when Book of Thailand teases him on his look at the Gold Medal.

Doujin of Philippines with KiraKira of Switzerland

Doujin continued his unstoppable streak at the start of the set with 9 straight rounds, 3 matches over Kor_nnova while using Eddy. Switching between characters including Kazumi and Shaheen, Kor_nnova finally started getting results by picking Dragunov, neutralizing the evasive relax stance with razer (d+2) and taking two straight rounds despite Doujin making a switch to Kazumi. However, Doujin starts picking up the pace with his Kazumi and started fighting back getting three consecutive close matches for the 5-2 finish in the semifinals.

This is one of my favorite match, the 1st time I saw Doujin playing with awesome Tomas a New Zealander with Korean blood and origin. We find him smart and cool to be around. He knows how to read Korean characters and he even speaks well in the Korean language. We first met him at the hotel and we dine together in one long table with other eSportsman for our 1st dinner in Korea.

Blessed are they who have the gift of making friends, for it is one of God's best gifts. It involves many things, but above all, the power of going out of one's self, and appreciating whatever is nice and loving in another.

We knew that Andreij "Doujin" Albar don't get to be World Champion without a struggle.

As in saying "Once a Champion, always a Champion."

To be a champion,
you have to learn to handle stress and pressure.
But if you've prepared mentally and physically,
you don't have to worry.
