In video games, a boss is a significant computer-controlled enemy. A fight with a boss character is commonly referred to as a boss battle or boss fight. Bosses are generally far stronger than other opponents the player has faced up to that point and winning requires a greater knowledge of the game's mechanics. Boss battles are generally seen at a climax of a particular section of the game, such as at the end of a level or stage or guarding a specific objective.

A Final Boss (sometimes 'secret' or 'hidden' boss) is generally much more powerful than the bosses encountered as part of the main game's plot and often an optional encounter. A final boss is often the main antagonist of a game's story and the defeat of that character provides a positive conclusion to the game. At times, bosses are very hard, even impossible, to defeat without being adequately prepared and/or knowing the correct fighting approach. Bosses take strategy and special knowledge to defeat, such as how to attack weak points or avoid specific attacks. Bosses are common in many genres of video games, but they are especially common in story-driven titles like Tekken 7, a fighting game, and are particularly associated with boss battles.

The novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has brought the entire world to a relative standstill, affecting millions worldwide at the time of writing (December 14, 2020) World Health Organization "WHO". With the absence of an effective vaccine, public health measures have been implemented by governments worldwide, such as quarantine, closing workplaces (including schools and businesses), and spatial distancing. To combat the spread of COVID-19, the Philippine government implemented nationwide lockdown measures and self-isolation policies. In the Philippine context, “lockdown” refers to individuals staying at home while completely restricting the movement of the population inside and outside of specific areas except for essential activities (health visits, purchasing for essential items, and providing essential work). As a consequence, the measures have led to occupational and educational disruption and psychological distress for many individuals.

One area that has been relatively affected during the pandemic is the gaming industry, with user engagement growing considerably during this period. Bandai Namco Esports gaming company, launch #T7OnlineChallenger in my mind maybe this is a trial replacement or a kind option to uplift the morale of Tekken Lovers who are generally participating in the yearly event of Tekken World Tour.

Andreij Albar lost to Thailand’s Nopparut “Book” Hempamorn in the Semi-final winners bracket and go down to lower bracket to take the match against fellow Pilipino mate.

Albar got the bronze after losing to Laverez in the lower bracket finals.

Both Filipino contenders, Andreij Hosea "Doujin" Albar, and Alexandre Gabrielle "AK" Laverez, made their way to the upper bracket playoffs as expected – both going against Thai players in the opening round. Laverez dropped his series, 0-3, and fell to the lower bracket against Nopparut "Book" Hempamorn, possibly the toughest non-Filipino combatant in the tourney.

Albar got revenge for his teammate in the next matchup, sweeping his opponent, and proceeding to the next round of the upper bracket playoffs.

Andreij Albar faced his Philippine teammate AK, who fell to the lower bracket finals after losing to Thailand's Hempamorn in the upper bracket finals. At that point, both players were assured of at least a bronze medal.

It was Laverez though that who'd proceed to the grand finals, after a lower bracket final that went the entire 5 games. Game 5 was intense as both players were down to their last health, but Laverez got the better of the exchanges, knocking off Albar's Panda with his Shaheen. A very close match, only a blink of an eye Andreij Albar won the bronze for his efforts.

Overall, the Philippines won 3 gold medals in esports, courtesy of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Starcraft II, and DoTA 2.

The Red Lion and The Ancient Red Lion Rampant

The practice of adopting a school moniker became both fashionable and an imperative especially for Catholic schools named after Saints during the 1940s in the Philippines. The American Catholic schools started the rage earlier when the clergy became wary of sports headlines such as “ St. Peter mauls St. Paul 80 – 40”. In the Philippines, headlines of whipping and trashing of schools named after saints drew mixed emotions among the clergy and devout Catholics. “Why would a Catholic saint whip another Catholic saint?”, they would ask.

On July 31, 1940, Fr. Sergio Martinez OSB, inspired by English tradition, coined the moniker “Red Lion” for the school. Red is the colour of courage, of a warrior and a martyr. The lion, on the other hand, represents dominance as the king of the jungle.
